Who I am

My artistic journey began during my teenage years in Bulgaria. My father’s passionate obsession with photography carried over to me and I soon found myself pressing buttons and asking questions about aperture speed.
A few years later I found myself a resident of sunny South Africa where the abundance of wild life is every photographer’s paradise. South Africa has 858 species of birds, 299 species of mammals, over 1200 insect species not to mention the stunningly beautiful flora and amazing sunsets.
What drives me today is quite different from my past. I am an avid student of photography and I experiment regularly with the ever-changing technological landscape of photography so I can stay relevant.
The satisfaction that I gather from my photographic art is enormous. Tossing my camera into my bag and driving off into a perfect African sunset leaves the realities of everyday life behind and turns my ordinary life into a dream come true.

Stuff I do professionaly

Being a family photographer is very hard. Ask anyone who does it. It's also one of the most rewarding and fulfilling fields of photography. Family photos capture a moment in time alongside those you care for the most. They capture kids' personalities, emphasize relationships, tell stories and bring back memories of loved ones that have passed. So, no pressure, right?

As time goes on, the family will welcome new members. Tons of emotions. Rarely will any other type of photography evoke such pure, raw joy than newborn photography. Photographing babies is both an art and a science. It takes a certain amount of finesse to photograph these tiny little creatures that goes beyond the ability to hold a camera. The ideal age is between 5-12 days. When babies are that tiny they spend a lot of time sleeping and still curl up into those sweet poses similar to the positions they were in the womb. Of course, later stages have their cute moments too.

Sometimes families have members of the other kind – the hairy type. As a proud parent of four dogs and four cats my heart runs deep for pet photography. I can spend hours documenting their growing stages, personalities and loving nature, as well as interactions with the rest of the family. Pets or family members, it’s all about the storytelling.

Stuff I do to better myself

I have been a lover of photography forever and I have been lucky to practice it professionally as well. While I’ve been doing this for decades, I am constantly reading, trying out new techniques and challenging myself creatively and technically. Some of these projects have been testing not only my creativity but also my determination and love for photography.

In my bag

I often get questions of what cameras and lens I use. Photography can be a pretty expensive hobby. They say that it doesn't necessarily involve expensive gear - it's more about developing an eye for framing and catching the perfect moment. However, it does help to have some good quality glass in your bag. Here is what does the job for me at the moment – some expensive and some really cheap (like that’s possible) – and what makes my perfection seeking soul content, at least for now.
